The
Manatoc Experience!
This two day event is much more than just a mountian bike race;
participate in clinics, women's and children's group rides, open
riding, children's programs and races, swap meet and manufacturer
demo bike test rides in addition to the XC racing action. We like
to think there's a little something for everyone! The event is located
on the 600 acre Camp Manatoc Boy Scout Camp located in Peninsula,
Ohio. (15 minutes from downtown Akron and 25 minutes from downtown
Cleveland). The camp is located within the confines of the beautiful
Cuyahoga Valley National Park (CVNP) and is 1 mile from the historical
Ohio/Erie Canal Tow Path Trail that stretches from Cleveland to
Akron and beyond. The Manatoc trails consist of silky smooth flowing
single-track, rooty challenges, rock gardens, hiking trails, fire
roads and river crossings that transcend through fire pits with
remains of ancestral totem poles.
The
event covers two days. The first day is an 'open riding day' that
has expanded to so much more. You do not have to race to participate
in Saturday's events. Just to highlight a few of the activities
Cleveland's
local IMBA advocacy group, Cleveland Area Mountain Bike Association
(CAMBA) holds group rides and educational riding clinics with a
focus on beginning mountain bikers and women. Provide a Future hosts
an array of FREE kids-oriented activities aimed at providing children
opportunities for personal growth and is specifically oriented to
provide mountain biking as an alternative to other less productive
avenues. There are a variety of kids activities including races,
games, bike repairs and group rides.
Bicycle manufacturers Raleigh, Specialized and Jamis will be
on hand with their "demo" bikes enabling you to take a
test ride on the 1 mile demo track.
The second day is reserved for those that want to test their skills
against others; this is cross country race day. There are races
covering a variety of distances to test your skills against other
competitors. This race also serves as the first race for the new North East Ohio Power Series presented by Monster Energy Drinks. 3 races x 3 venues x 3 weekends in a row.

Huge thanks go out to the great folks at the Camp Manatoc Boy Scout
Camp who have extended their invitation to this event for a 7th
year in a row!
A portion of the fees are donated to the Camp Manatoc Boy Scout
Camp and other organizations.
After
riding the trails and soaking up the wilderness, you'll come to
appreciate the two wheel journey known to a privileged few as the
"Manatoc Experience".
